The South Coast Chamber Music Society (SCCMS) was formed in 2001 to present high quality classical chamber music for the communities of Southeastern Massachusetts. SCCMS held its first subscription series concert on October 20, 2001. Since then, we have presented concerts, featuring composers from Bach and Brahms to present-day masters such as Takemitsu and Harbison. In each program, we attempt to vary the instrumentation, blending winds and strings, and engaging guest artists to present a wide range of musical colors and styles.

The South Coast Chamber Music Society is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to presenting high quality chamber music to Greater New Bedford and the communities of Southeastern Massachusetts.
It is our ambition as performers to breathe life into the artistic creation of our fellow composers, to strive to reach ever higher levels of expertise and expression, and to inspire you, the audience, to achieve great things.
A Note from the Artistic Director…
The process of putting together a concert season is intriguing and fun. We go through many ideas as we factor repertoire, themes, instrumentation, audience requests, and performer requests into the most attractive package possible.
It is then an interesting journey to bring each concert idea to performance. I liken this to the joy of pairing food and wine (my two other favorite things), where different pairings of familiar elements result in new discoveries. We hope to present to you the joy, sadness, beauty, the different “tastes” in these great chamber works and trust you will discover new insights, too.
Our final concert with world-renowned classical guitarist Eliot Fisk will feature a brilliant program of Mozart, Bach, Villa-Lobos, Vivaldi, and Paganini. This is a “one-off” event that I promise you won’t want to miss.
Once again, we look forward to sharing a wonderful treasury of chamber music with you. Thanks for your support, and see you there!
